***FANTASTIC*** - The first three book box set of J.K. Rowling's classic titles.
All three are 1st Edition, 1st Print hardback books with their original dustjackets, all unclipped and housed in a sturdy presentation box with the original artwork of The Philosopher's Stone on one side and The Chamber of Secrets on the other. The box has a few age related scuff marks as expected and also has an interesting point. It has Ted Smart on the spine where the publishers name is, however on the bottom of the box, the web address is for www.bloomsbury.com
We have never seen another box set with ALL FIRST EDITION/ FIRST PRINT editions in it!!!
The three titles are, of course, The Philosopher's Stone - 1997. The Chamber of Secrets - 1998 and The Prisoner of Azkaban - 1999.
The Philosopher's Stone book is in excellent, clean condition and looks unread. It is complete with unclipped dustjacket, also in excellent, clean condition. It is uninscribed and the illustrated boards are like new as well as the spine & binding. The pages are free from any folds or tears. There is a little tanning to the page block which is totally expected owing to the paper-stock used, which was not the best, designed as a read then throwaway book for children.
The Chamber of Secrets is also in excellent, clean condition with the unclipped dustjacket the same. It is uninscribed and the illustrated boards are like new as well as the spine & binding. The pages are free from any folds or tears and again the book looks unread. There is a little tanning to the page block which again, is totally expected
The third book, The Prisoner of Azkaban is also in excellent condition with the unclipped dustjacket the same. It is uninscribed but there are a couple of slight ink marks on the bottom of the page block which are out of sight and two pages with very slight tears on them but no paper is missing. All paper is present, it is just a couple of nips to the pages. Apart from these very minor points the rest of the book is in clean, excellent condition and also looks unread.
Ted Smart (a mail order company) is looked on as the poorer relation to the Bloomsbury published editions, however despite this, prices have been steadily increasing over the last few years. The reason for this is simple, they are still really affordable in comparison to their Bloomsbury counterparts.
The Philosopher's Stone original trade hardback still commands a price in excess of £11,000. The Chamber of Secrets & the Prisoner of Azkaban published by Bloomsbury also have hefty price tags.
This set is therefore a wee gem which offers great investment potential.
