It is a hand-painted sketch that formed the original page and appeared in one of the annuals in the late 50s or early 60s. This sketch formed the basic page, onto which the main text was added later - as can be seen in the photo. As a result, this is a piece of artwork in its own right. This artwork was obtained during the clearing-out process after the World Distributors offices in Manchester were taken over in 1985.
