TURNER PRIZE 1999 CATALOGUE - The Year of the Unmade Bed, TRACEY EMIN
1 TRACEY EMIN TURNER PRIZE 1999 CATALOGUE - The Year of the Unmade Bed
London 1999 N/A Card Cover - Catalogue Excellent Contemporary Art N/A
This item is incredibly rare - It is the Catalogue for the Turner Prize, 1999.

It features a write up on each of the four finalists - Tracey Emin, Steve McQueen, Steven Pippin & Jane and Louise Wilson.

It also lists the works exhibited for each Artist, and in Tracey Emins case obviously covers amongst her listings the very famous My Bed as well as other work such as Every Part of Me's Bleeding.

Tracey caused great controversy in 1997 when she took part in a Channel 4 television debate programme stimulated by the Turner Prize. She was well known in the art world but largely unknown to the wider public at that time. During the debate she appeared drunk, swearing and insulting the other panel members and saying she wanted to go home to her mum - Tracey then left the debate. Although later she said this peculiar behavior was caused by painkillers she was taking for a broken finger, it did cause considerable media attention and brought her national fame

However in 1999 she became a nominee herself for the Turner Prize.

Greatest attention was given to her exhibit My Bed which was a double bed in a dishevelled state with stained sheets, surrounded by detritus such as soiled underwear, condoms, slippers, and empty drink bottles. She also displayed two-dimensional artwork and videos.

She was commonly thought to have been the winner - and is still sometimes referred to as such - although in fact the Prize was awarded to Steve McQueen for his video based on a Buster Keaton film.

A very rare collectors item indeed and in excellent condition.

Strangeland - Signed by Tracey Emin, TRACEY EMIN
2 TRACEY EMIN Strangeland - Signed by Tracey Emin
Sceptre 2005 0340769440 / 9780340769447 1st Edition Hardback/cover with dust jacket As NEW/Unread Dust jacket - NEW Autobiography Art Later Print SIGNED by Tracey Emin

'Emin retains a profoundly romantic world view, paired with an uncompromising honesty ... A remarkable book - and a beautiful mind.' -- Croydon Advertiser
'A fantastically engaging storyteller...Emin is heartbreaking ... but she's also effortlessly funny ... This book is a reminder of why so many people respond with their hearts to her work.' -- Metro
'It took me by surprise with its incredibly upfront yet poignant portrait of Tracey's life. No pretension, no primadonna hysterics - just a beautifully crafted and brutally honest exploration of her world. It blew me away.' -- Hugo Hutchison
'Reading STRANGELAND is like drinking a bottle of vodka with Tracey and listening to her talk, with real honesty, about everything. I am not sure what I was expecting, but I wasn't expecting her warmth, wit and humour. It really is wonderful.' -- Louise Sherwin-Stark
'It took me totally by surprise - her ability as a writer, the mixture of styles, the brutal honesty of it all. It feels as if it has been stripped of all superfluous material and we're left with only those moments of her life that Tracey feels are defining and important.' -- Brett Woods

These are just some of the comments that this book engenders. It is a great insight into the life of a very talented lady with experiences that most of us couldn't begin to imagine. An inspired, artistic mind driven to the edge by its creativity.

Hand-signed to the title page, and in "As New" condition, with a clean tight page-block and no tears, rips or dog-ears. It truly is a must-have for any fan of Tracey Emin, or of fine art generally.

This book is over 400 on other sites so grab yourself a bargain
