This item is incredibly rare - It is the Catalogue for the Turner Prize, 1999. It features a write up on each of the four finalists - Tracey Emin, Steve McQueen, Steven Pippin & Jane and Louise Wilson. It also lists the works exhibited for each Artist, and in Tracey Emins case obviously covers amongst her listings the very famous My Bed as well as other work such as Every Part of Me's Bleeding. Tracey caused great controversy in 1997 when she took part in a Channel 4 television debate programme stimulated by the Turner Prize. She was well known in the art world but largely unknown to the wider public at that time. During the debate she appeared drunk, swearing and insulting the other panel members and saying she wanted to go home to her mum - Tracey then left the debate. Although later she said this peculiar behavior was caused by painkillers she was taking for a broken finger, it did cause considerable media attention and brought her national fame However in 1999 she became a nominee herself for the Turner Prize. Greatest attention was given to her exhibit My Bed which was a double bed in a dishevelled state with stained sheets, surrounded by detritus such as soiled underwear, condoms, slippers, and empty drink bottles. She also displayed two-dimensional artwork and videos. She was commonly thought to have been the winner - and is still sometimes referred to as such - although in fact the Prize was awarded to Steve McQueen for his video based on a Buster Keaton film. A very rare collectors item indeed and in excellent condition.

Wendy Alec was born in the heart of London and moved at the age of 8 to South Africa. It was apparent from an early age that she would follow a career in The Arts. The early 90's saw her enter the advertising industry as a copywriter, then as creative director of a TV Production House before launching, with her husband, the UK and Europe's first television channel on Rupert Murdoch's SKY platform in the UK in 1995. Wendy was the mastermind behind the channel's radical, creative international branding and programming which now is half the size of CNN, broadcasting to the UK, Europe, Asia, The Middle East, Africa and most recently the USA. During the years from 1999 to 2005, despite her demanding job, she conceptualized "The Brothers Film Trilogy Project". However finding herself too busy with the ever expanding Global television network to start the film development process, Wendy decided to initially develop her project with a 7 book epic fantasy series "Chronicles of Brothers" just to get the project down "on paper". By January 2006, the UK version of the first novel of the "Chronicles of Brothers" series - The Fall of Lucifer - based on the first screenplay was completed. This is a Toasting Goblet commemorating the Centenary of the birth of Winston Churchill, Statesman and Historian, produced in hand-blown and hand-cut full English lead crystal by the craftsmen at Webb Corbett Ltd. It stands 220mm in height, with a magnificent hand-drawn air-twist stem, and an elaborately cut star foot. The rich hand-cutting on the bowl includes two oval panels, one bearing an engraving of the bust of Winston Churchill within the inscription "Centenary of the birth of Winston S Churchill 1874 - 1974". The other depicts and etching of the Big Ben clock tower. The base of the foot, in addition to the deep cutting, is hand-engraved with the minute inscription "Webb Corbett Crystal 1974 David Smith", identifying the Master Glass-blower who crafted this item. The Toasting Goblet is accompanied by a signed certificate denoting that it is number 805 of a limited production of only 1000 for worldwide distribution. This is a lovely Jasperware blue and white Winston Churchill plaque/plate measuring 4 3/8" or 11.1 cms diameter and manufactured around 1967. It is blue ground porcelain decorated with applied raised sprig work in white. The Plaque shows a simple head and shoulders portrait of the great man in profile in the centre. He appears, as he is usually remembered, a mature and dignified man in a jacket and bow tie. Around the rim there is a wreath of flowers. It is in excellent condition, with no chips, cracks or restoration COMPLETE with it's original box AND leaflet - all easily lost in the intervening years This plaque was made as a tribute to a truly great man.

This is a Winston Churchill signed letter posted from Downing Street. The postage frank marking, in red on the front of the envelope, is dated 17th December 1954, London S.W.1. with 10 Downing Street, Whitehall on the back of the envelope. The subject of the letter is a recognition/thank you for a birthday wish to Winston Churchill. In 1955, because of continued ill health he had to reluctantly retire from politics, only one year after this letter was posted. It comes written in black ink and has the original Whitehall letterhead also. The letter is in excellent condition, as it has been housed in its envelope for all these years, however it does have some minor creases as you can see, but nothing to detract from an original letter & envelope. These very rarely appear for sale anywhere. We have priced this accordingly as these sell for anything up to £2500 depending on the letter contents. More images available upon request.
