United Kingdom Constable 2003 1841195847 / 9781841195841 1st Edition Hardback with dust jacket covered in Mylar New/Unread Crime/Detective Fiction 1st Printing SIGNED by the Author

The second case for Victorian sleuth Lord Francis Powerscourt.

Early one morning in 1897 a corpse with no head or hands is dragged out of the Thames by London Bridge. There are few clues to his identity and the police call on Lord Francis Powerscourt. Soon his investigation leads Lord Francis to a series of murders at the House of Harrison, a reputable German bank in the City. It seems somebody at the bank is staking out imprudent financial positions that could lead to a scandal of catastrophic proportions for the City. Young Wolfgang Harrison was educated with the Kaiser and shares his beliefs in the destiny and supremacy of the German race. Could he be planning a financial Gotterdammerung that would cripple the British Empire at its finest moment, the celebration of Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee?

It is SIGNED by the author on the title page. The book and dust jacket are in FINE - AS NEW condition and is protected by a Mylar cover.

Conversations with Magic Stones >>> Collectors Copy <<< Signed, Lined and Dated, MARK BLAYNEY
2 MARK BLAYNEY Conversations with Magic Stones >>> Collectors Copy <<< Signed, Lined and Dated
United Kingdom Manuscript Publishing 2003 0954550501 / 9780954550509 1st Edition Softcover As New/Unread Fiction 1st Printing SIGNED, LINED AND DATED

Set in Bruges, Paris and the Holloway Road, these are provocative and challenging stories.

Powerfully and tightly written, these stories are sexy and evocative stuff you can smell the beaches and the bedrooms that feature in the stories, and see the dead leaves blowing alongside the canal in Bruges as clouds race overhead.

Blayney writes with intensity and immediacy; unlike so much modern fiction which is either worthy and dull, or exciting but trivial.

He writes stories which have something to say without being pretentious and which despite heavy themes (God, death, sex, the nature of reality) are consistently entertaining and beautifully written.

In FINE - AS NEW condition, this copy has been signed, lined and dated by the author on the title page.

Although we believe that this is a competitive price for this item, we are open to reasonable offers for it. Please contact us for more details.

This is the original 1st Edition/1st Printing of Stephen Queen's beautifully crafted coming-of-age story set in 1920's Scotland.

The book charts one boy's journey from his slow awakening to adulthood, through the swirling mists of teenage confusion as he experiences death, love, revenge and discovery of secrets.

These are the catalysts for growing up, culminating in the defining moment when he recognizes it is the moment to grow up, take responsibility and fulfill who he is.

This copy is important, partly due to the fact that it is signed & doodled on the title page by the author, but mainly as it has also been dedicated to MARTIN on the title page.

This was an integral part of the main promotional campaign on the book's original release, whereby the author dedicated copies to "A Boy's Name" of the buyers choice

How many were dedicated to MARTIN is uncertain, but you can be sure that there weren't many!!

Lolita, VLADIMIR NOBOKOV
5 VLADIMIR NOBOKOV Lolita
1959 1st Edition Hardcover Very Good Erotic Fiction 2nd Printing N/A

The subject matter, of a middle-aged man desiring a young girl, a nymphet of 12 at the beginning of their affair, was so outrageous that the sheer delicacy and also the wit of the writing was hardly commented on. Lolita was not, in fact, about sex - it was about love and it was about erotic emotion, not any kind of pornography.

Humbert is one of the most self-aware narrators in contemporary fiction, and mocks, and derides, and lashes himself with wonderful energy. He sees himself as others see him and is merciless in attacking what he is doing to Lolita, quite clear-eyed about what she is doing to herself. This reviewer has never been able to find in any of Nabokov's other work quite the vitality, and beauty there is in this extraordinary novel. (Kirkus UK)

This copy has a slight lean on the spine, but is otherwise in very good condition for it's age, with clean tight pages. It has a small dedication in ink from it's original owners - "To George from Margaret".
