There and Back Again - The Map of - The Hobbit, BRIAN SIBLEY & JOHN HOWE
1 BRIAN SIBLEY & JOHN HOWE There and Back Again - The Map of - The Hobbit
Harper Collins 1995 0261103201 1st Edition Softcover Excellent Fantasy/Fiction Factual 1st Printing N/A

This is a fascinating item.

Initially it looks like a small 23-page booklet with information about the map of "The Hobbit".

However on further inspection, it opens out into a 29" x 28" full-colour and highly detailed map, showing the journey undertaken by Bilbo Baggins in J.R.R.Tolkein's classic story.

Published in 1995 by Harper Collins, it carries the number line 9 8 7 6 5 4 3 2 1, indicating a true first edition and is a must for any J.R.R.Tolkein collector.

The Hobbit - 1976 Calendar - One of the First Calendars of the series., J.R.R. TOLKIEN
2 J.R.R. TOLKIEN The Hobbit - 1976 Calendar - One of the First Calendars of the series.
N/A Georg Allen & Unwin 1976 One of the first Calendars Paper & Card Excellent Children's Fiction Fantasy NONE

One of the earliest, of the ongoing series of Tolkien Calendars.

This one features 12 illustrations done by Tolkien himself for the Unwin Edition of "The Hobbit".

It is in superb condition and comes complete with the original paperboard mailer, which has a bit of damage and a little pen scribbling to the flap on the back. The front of the mailer, however, is in excellent condition and the fact that it is complete in the envelope has also kept the calendar in superb condition.

There can not be many of these left for sale and certainly not in such good condition. The illustrations are STUNNING.

Even though the proposed film in 2012 has suffered from a few glitches so far, it does boast a handsome "A list" cast and one that will bring Tolkien's work to a new generation of fans as well as the already well established ones.

This is a must-have for any Tolkien completist.

The Hobbit - Slip-cased Folio Society Edition, J.R.R. TOLKIEN
5 J.R.R. TOLKIEN The Hobbit - Slip-cased Folio Society Edition
United Kingdom The Folio Society 1999 1st Edition Slip-cased Hardback As New/Unread Children's Fiction Fantasy 3rd Printing/Impression NONE

We have great pleasure in presenting The Folio Society's 1st Edition/3rd Printing of J.R.R. Tolkien's classic tale.

This is in it's original slipcase and both the book and slipcase are in as new condition.

The book has a clean tight page-block, with no yellowing, foxing or dog-eared pages. It is bound in full vegetable parchment blocked with a design by Francis Mosley.

Bilbo Baggins is a reasonably typical hobbit: fond of sleeping, eating, drinking, parties and presents.

However, it is his destiny to travel to the dwarflands in the east, to help slay the dragon Smaug.

His quest takes him through enchanted forests, spiders' lairs, and under the Misty Mountains, where he comes across the vile Gollum and tricks him out of his 'Precious' - a ring of invisibility.
